Stanford Summer Engineering Academy (SSEA)

SSEA is a month-long program for incoming freshmen interested in engineering at Stanford. These students come from traditionally minoritized and marginalized communities and are given an extensive support network to lean on during their time at Stanford and beyond.

I have worked as a Residential Assistant (RA), a Teaching Assistant (TA), and the Graduate Fellow (GF) for the program. I keep returning because I believe in the work that the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Office is doing in the School of Engineering.

My role in the program designated what activities or trainings I designed. Below you'll find samples of the work I did in each role.

As the Graduate Fellow...

I refined and organized the training material for the incoming Residential Assistants.

Here are some sample activities from our training sessions:

As a Teaching Assistant...

I helped develop leadership development activities for students and created fun de-stressing activities for the fall seminar in 2019 and again in 2021.

As a Residential Assistant...

I co-created residential activities for the summer program that built community and taught skills that would be useful in the transition to college for first-generation and/or low-income students.
